Piracicaba, 18 – Watermelon prices in Goiás and Tocantins states went down last week (10th to 14th July), because of an increase in harvest in Lagoa da Confusão and Formoso do Araguaia, cities in Tocantins state. Besides that, a reduction in sales (after high quotes in the previous week) made buyers offer lower prices. Watermelons larger than 12 kilogram were sold last week by BRL 0.74/kg in Tocantins and by BRL 0.81/kg in Uruana, a decrease of 14.6% and 18.7%, respectively. For this week, the forecast is a small growth in supply in Lagoa da Confusão (Tocantins state), while in Uruana (Goiás state), volume is still the same.
