Piracicaba, 30 – Sales of Brazilian watermelon to international market started in August (2018/19 season), and planted area in Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará states is forecasted to be the same as in 2017/18.
According to Hortifruti/Cepea collaborators, volume exported this season may be similar to last season, when Brazil shipped 71.5 thousand tons of watermelon between August/17 and March/18, according to Secex data, a record. 2018/19 season may extend up to April of 2019, when harvest finishes in Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará states.
