Piracicaba, 16th - Potato area had an increase of 0.5% in 2019 in comparison to 2018. This scenario ocurred due to industry investment (14.4%). For potato table market, there was a reduction of 4%.
The smaller rise associated with production problems in the 2018/19 “rainy season” and 2019 “dry season” decreased supply, allowing prices to be above costs all over the year. In October and November, however, the values were the lowest in 2019, reflecting crop concentration and high temperatures, which affected quality.
