Piracicaba, 9th – 2019 was marked by two distinct periods: carrot price increased in the first semester and dropped in the second one. A reduction of 6,4% in summer season 2018/19 area allowed good profitability most of the year, even with gradual decline in prices since August.
Besides that, production was affected by rain, which increased the incidence of diseases, mainly in Minas Gerais and Goiás states. Considering the low supply in the first part of the year, quotes reached high levels, and stimulates producers to plant larger areas in winter season 2019.
In addition, favorable production and climate conditions in the second semester reduced price and profitability was negative in certain periods.
