LETTUCE/CEPEA: São Paulo's production recovers and prices go down See photos

Piracicaba, 18 - Last week (10th to 14th July), lettuce prices went down again in Ibiúna and Mogi das Cruzes regions (São Paulo state). Supply is back to normal after discards last month, a result of rain in June. Besides that, school vacations reduced lettuce consumption. In Ibiúna, green-leaf lettuce was sold by BRL 14.03/box of 20 units, a reduction of 9% in comparison to the previous week. Despite the devaluation, there is a lack of green-leaf lettuce in both regions of São Paulo state. Lettuce is small in size, but quality is better because of good weather. This week (15th to 21st), the forecast is 18 mm of rain in Mogi das Cruzes and 13 mm in Ibiúna, according to Climatempo, and this small volume of rain will probably not affect production.
