Piracicaba, 14th - In São Gotardo (Minas Gerais state), carrot prices finished last week (October 5th to 9th) with a slight fall, closing at BRL 20.00 per 29-kilo box. According to Hortifruti/Cepea collaborators, this reduction is explained by the enhanced productivity growth since September – climate conditions are favorable to the crops. Besides, the carrot market remained good once the profitability was positive: even with the reduction, carrot quotes were 66% above the cost, estimated at BRL 12.00 per 29-kilo box. This is a reflection of the smaller planted area for the winter season 2020, which contributes to a lower volume and its profits to producers.
