The reduction in lettuce prices in regions of Mogi das Cruzes and Ibiúna (São Paulo state), since early July, resulted in planting reduction. In spite of the favorable weather to fungus disease, producers in São Paulo decided not to use pesticides to prevent it, due to difficulties to incorporate this investment in sales prices. This week (from 8th to 12nd August), rain and low temperatures may return to these regions, probably bringing back diseases and low quality of lettuce.
