WATERMELON/CEPEA: Seeds are missing in Goiás state See photos

Piracicaba, 15th – Watermelon harvest is intensifying in Goiás state, while planting is still in progress. However, according to Hortifruti/Cepea collaborators, there is, again, difficult to buy seeds – in March/April, the same happened and it was regulated.

So, in some areas where planting could have already started, only fertilizing and soil correction has been happening. This scenario may result in migration to other types of seeds, or even a change in planting schedule, increasing planted area in the next months. It is important to highlight that the lack of seeds is happening in Rio Grande do Sul state too, where watermelon planting might start between July and August.
