Piracicaba, 10th – Watermelon growers from Marília/Oscar Bressane and Itápolis (São Paulo state – Brazil) are facing adverse weather conditions in the 2020/21 season, mainly because of rain above the average and high temperatures in the state. According to Hortifruti/Cepea collaborators, some plant seedlings were lost, and growers are concerned about productivity – which can also be above the average.

This situation is even more critical to producers who do not have irrigation systems. In the end of October, rain returned to the state, but it was not enough to restore soil humidity.
