Piracicaba, 09 – Tomato prices dropped down in Brazilian wholesale last week (April 29th to May 3rd). At the beginning of the week, prices were still stable, but in the course of the days, higher offer dropped prices. Gradually, winter crop is gaining pace, what keeps the trend of price reduction. However, the devaluation will not be severe, since there is area reduction and production problems in some regions, such as Sumaré (São Paulo state) and Paty do Alferes (Rio de Janeiro state). With the end of summer crop, the forecast is the predominance of winter harvest supply.
