Piracicaba, 04th – In 2022, mango area continues to grow in Vale do São Francisco (Pernambuco and Bahia states). However, the pace is slower than in the recent years, since profitability is reduced in the domestic market. The small and medium producers may not increase the area, but the large exporting companies will continue to plant, because the international demand continues to increase year after year. In this sector, profitability is better than in the domestic market, since the dollar is appreciated against the Brazilian real.

The main variety planted by exporters is Kent, which is the favorite in the European market. In this scenario, some areas of the Palmer variety are being changed to this variety, to increase competitiveness for exporting.
