MANGO/CEPEA: Low demand and high supply weigh on prices See photos

Piracicaba, 7 – Mango national prices fell last weeks, due to weak demand at the end of April. On the supply side, harvest rate increased, especially in Jaíba/Janaúba (Minas Gerais state), while there were fewer shipments of mangoes to Europe in Petrolina / Juazeiro (Pernambuco and Bahia states).

Producers are worried, since a possible drop in exports allied with increase in supply may maintain the pressure on quotes in May. However, even with the likely devaluation this month, prices should remain above costs.
