Piracicaba, 16th – In the face of social isolation measures to contain the covid-19 pandemic, all activities of fruit and vegetable production chain, considered essential to supply and food security, are authorized to operate normally in Brazil, based on a federal decree published by the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture on March 26.
In this scenario, Hortifruti/Cepea collaborators report that field, transportation and marketing activities are going to normal in recent days, implementing the coronavirus prevention measures disclosed by the Brazilian Ministry of Health. Although the demand for some fruit and vegetable is relatively good, for others there is a reduction - mainly for those that depend on institutional market, for example some patterns of bananas, oranges, apples, watermelons, carrots and potatoes.
