GRAPE/CEPEA: Freeze in Marialva (Paraná state) concerns growers See photos

Piracicaba, 2nd – Low temperatures in the South of Brazil resulted in frost in Marialva region (Paraná state) last week (June 28th to July 2nd). Fortunately, grapes which are ready for harvest did not face any damages. So, the concern is about the areas where pruning has already been done for the next season – in these areas, pruning might be needed again.

Besides concerns about vine health, low temperatures reduce sales, since they impact domestic consumption. Last week, prices were stable in relation to the week before: Italia variety was sold by BRL 3.05/kg.
