In September, the first month of Brazilian table grape shipment, exports fell down 39% in front of September/2015 (Brazilian Foreign Trade Office data), totalizing 3.9 thousand of tones. In this period, amount added US$ 7.9 million, value 38% less in the same comparison. Just European Union (EU) bought 45% less this first month. Causes of this scenario are an increasing competition with Greece, which will probably extend harvest, and lower supply in São Francisco Valley. Greece is one of the top competitors of Brazil in the EU market. Besides that, São Francisco Valley is the main producer of table grapes for international market, and, this year, vineyards productivity shall decrease due to weather conditions – lack of rain in Northeast of Brazil.
