CARROT/CEPEA: Low supply pushes prices up to higher levels See photos

Piracicaba, 24th - The first half of July has been characterized by significant valuation of carrots in all the Brazilian regions, after a long period with low prices. In July, the box with 29 kilograms of carrots was sold by BRL 28.82 – which was more than four times more than the previous month.

This scenario is a reflection of the low supply since the beginning of July, when the period between the seasons reduced the volume. In August, this firm price continued and the quotes were mostly the same, which guaranteed a good level of profitability for the producers.

For the coming weeks, the forecast remains positive for the crop, once there is a smaller area to be harvested during the winter season. For this reason, the volume of carrots tends to be lower than in the first half of the year.
