Banana industry earns Geographical Indication See photos

The North of Santa Catarina state made an important step for banana industry in Brazil. In August, banana producers of Corupá region (Santa Catarina state) delivered a document to Inpi (National Institute of Intellectual Property) to obtain the Geographical Indication (GI) label, with the slogan: “Banana from Corupá: sweet by nature”. Besides Corupá, GI covers other three cities, such as Schroeder, Jaraguá do Sul and São Bento do Sul. With the label, banana from this region can be recognized by Brazilian consumers due to its differentiated flavor, and achievement that celebrated on September 22nd, “Banana Day” in Brazil.
