Apple imports has been increasing strongly in recent months and attracting Brazilian consumers, according to Hortifruti/Cepea collaborators.

Chile is still sending fruits despite the harvest in the same period of Brazil. From that country, Brazilian importers are buying Red variety, while from other European countries, such as Portugal, Spain and Italy, imports are mainly of Gala variety.

National apples share space with imported ones, which limits growers’ profitability.
