Piracicaba, 29 - In September, the government of India approved an agreement concerning imports of Brazilian apples. To this, apples shall undergo cold treatment since pre-boarding until the end of the 40 days of travel. Thus, exporters forecasted that, without phytosanitary barriers, India will leave the 12th place in the ranking, nowadays, to 1st place as an importer of Brazilian apples in 2018. In the past, the evolution of exports to India fluctuated over the years. In 2012 and 2014, for example, India did not buy apples from Brazil (Secex data). In 2013, only 549 tones were sent to the country, while in 2015, the volume was 656 tones. Last year, India bought 422 tones of Brazilian apples.
