APPLE/CEPEA: End of month slows down sales See photos

Piracicaba, 7th – During the turn-of-the-month period, apple demand lost a little more pace in Brazil last week (September 28th to October 2nd). Either way, sales were satisfactory for most classifiers, since they are with low supply. It is worth remembering that a crop failure has occurred this year and, therefore, the Brazilian apple storages are smaller.

Given the end of the month and current Brazilian economy, which limits consumer income, increased demand for more affordable apples has been observed, like those of smaller calibers. Thus, gala caliber 165 Cat 1 recorded a slight increase of 2% in prices, being sold at BRL 84.50/box of 18 kg as the average from the classifiers regions. For this week, apple sales are expected to improve due to the week of salary payments.
