Piracicaba, 27 – Watermelon harvest in Uruana (GO) region started last week (17th to 21st April). In the first days, fruits from this region supplies local market, according to Hortifruti/Cepea collaborators. Sales to Ceagesp (São Paulo wholesale) are forecasted to start by the beginning of May, when supply from Teixeira de Freitas region (Bahia state) will finish. The first watermelons from Goiás have good quality and higher prices than other producing regions. Last week (17th to 21st April), watermelons with more than 12 kg were sold by BRL 0.60/kg in Goiás, while in Bahia the price was BRL 0.51/kg the same week.
