Supply is restricted to São Francisco Valley

MANGO/CEPEA: Price for tommy variety increase 27% See photos

Piracicaba, 13 – Even with small supply since the end of May, mango tommy prices were not increasing significantly in São Francisco Valley (Bahia and Pernambuco states). However, last week (June 05 to 09th), supply affected prices: in average, tommy was sold by BRL 2.37/kg, an increase of 27% in one week. According to Hortifruti/Cepea collaborators, is dificult to find tommy variety in São Francisco Valley, and buyers need to pay more for it. Besides that, european market continue good, with better prices for Brazilian mango tommy than Ivory Coast mango kent, for example. An increase in tommy supply in São Francisco Valley is forecasted for July only.
