LETTUCE/CEPEA: Green-leaf and iceberg varieties reach the smallest prices of 2017 See photos

Piracicaba, 18 - Demand for lettuce in Ibiúna and Mogi das Cruzes (São Paulo state) decreased last week (14th to 18th August). Low temperatures and rains were responsible for it. On the other hand, lettuce supply is high, resulting in an increase of transplanting in the past two months. Favorable climate for development of production also influenced the excess of lettuce in the market. Green-leaf variety quotes in Ibiúna decreased 10.28% compared to previous week, at BRL 6.67 per box with 20 units, the lowest price of the year. In Mogi das Cruzes it was iceberg variety that presented the lowest price of 2017, sold by BRL 9.40 per box with 12 units (-11.32%).
