APPLE/CEPEA: Harvest of 2017/18 season starts in January See photos

Piracicaba, 22 - Brazilian apple harvest of 2017/18 season will start in mid January with gala variety. The forecast is for a smaller production of apples than 2016/17 season due to few hours of cold in the dormancy period. Even so, total volume shall be considered within the average (between 1 and 1.3 million tones), inasmuch as the previous campaign was measured bumper crop.

In this scenario, prices in 2018 may be superior from 2017, but production cost shall be higher too. The good news is that some competing fruits will also register crop shortfalls, favoring the apple market.
